Sharpen your hearing for OPERA by ANAKLASIS

21 / 10 / 2020
ANAKLASIS, a CD publishing house devoted to contemporary music, operating under the auspices of PWM Edition, is launching a new series called OPERA.

OPERA in the ANAKLASIS catalogue will have a special place because it is going to be devoted to exceptional undertakings - recordings of large musical forms. The artwork will emphasise the uniqueness of the series. Unlike other series, OPERA will not have an assigned colour, and its graphic identification will be based on artistic, black and white photographs, with the dominant role of black as the background. It will be released not only on a CD but above all on vinyl.

In the black series ANAKLASIS, there will be a place for recordings of outstanding vocal and instrumental works, going beyond the established tradition of the genre understanding of the word "opera". The name of the series is related to its Italian root word, meaning a widely understood musical work. OPERA will be an umbrella for contemporary opera works, but also musical dramas, pieces of passion and oratorios.

The series will be opened with the Aleksander Nowak's Drach. Dramma per musica, premiered in 2019, to a libretto by Szczepan Twardoch, based on his famous novel. In the solo parts we will hear Joanna Freszel, Jakub Jan Monowid and Sebastian Szumski with the accompaniment of AUKSO, Chamber Orchestra of the City of Tychy, and Marcin Świątkiewicz (harpsichord).

In 2021, the composition Syrena. Melodrama aeterna, which will be premiered in November 2020, is planned to be released. This is another joint work of Aleksander Nowak and Szczepan Twardoch, commissioned by the Auksodrone festival, this time with an original libretto. Woman, Man and Mermaid - with the voices of Joanna Freszel, Ewa Biegas and Jan Jakub Monowid - sing the depth of the sea and emotions symbolised by the element.

he OPERA series was created in cooperation with the City of Tychy, AUKSO Chamber Orchestra of the City of Tychy and the Auksodrone festival.

All ANAKLASIS publications are available in the best bookstores, music stores, on digital services and Empik's virtual shelves! We recommend it!
