Composer and pianist, born on 17th July 1932 in Lwów (now Lviv, Ukraine), died on 29th December 2013 in Katowice.

Theatre director, known for her outstanding interpretations of plays by Anton Chekhov, William Shakespeare, and Elfriede Jelinek. She graduated in psychology from the University of Warsaw and in drama directing from Kraków’s State Higher School of Theatre Arts (now the AST National Academy).

Born on 19th September 1938 in Warsaw, he studied piano with Maria Wiłkomirska and composition with Kazimierz Sikorski at that city’s State Higher School of Music. He continued his education with Nadia Boulanger in Paris. He is a professor of composi- tion at the Academy of Music in Łódź.

Born in 1951 in Bielsko-Biała, passed away in 1990 in Pszczyna, Krzanowski was a composer and accordion player who studied composition with Henryk Mikołaj Górecki (1971–1975) and accordion with Joachim Pichura at the State Higher School of Music in Katowice.

Composer, born on 18th March 1961 in Białystok. She studied composition with Włodzimierz Kotoński at the Warsaw Academy of Music (now the Chopin University of Music) and later with Louis Andriessen in The Hague. She perfected her musical abilities at the Darmstadt International Summer Courses for New Music and as part of the DAAD artistic exchange in Berlin

Composer, violinist and educator. He studied composition with Jan Wichrowski and computer music production with Cezary Duchnowski at Wrocław’s Academy of Music. He then completed postgraduate studies with Stanisław Krupowicz and Cezary Duchnowski.

One of the greatest Polish composers and a leading figure in 20th-century Polish music; composer, pianist, and conductor. Born on 25 January 1913 in Warsaw, he died there on 7 February 1994. Lutosławski’s youthful works were still impacted by French Impressionism, while the first post-war decade was under the influence of native folklore. A breakthrough in the composer’s style came with Funeral Music (1954–1958), in which he proposed a new look at the harmonic material – operating with all twelve tones, but with a reduced number of intervals.

Born on 5th May 1819 in Ubel, d. on 4th June 1872 in Warsaw, Moniuszko came from a landowning family in the area of Minsk. He learnt music first in Warsaw, then in Minsk and Berlin. Then he settled in Vilnius, where for 18 years he had a busy artistic career as a composer, organist at St John’s Church, organiser of artistic events, and teacher.
