Maciej Koczur

He graduated in conducting from Paweł Przytocki’s class at the Cracow Academy of Music and is now a doctoral student at his alma mater. In 2008–2014 he directed the Archetti Chamber Orchestra of the City of Jaworzno. Since 2010 he has been an assistant conductor to Cracow’s Young Philharmonic at the Mieczysław Karłowicz State Music School Complex and leader of ElektroNova ensemble, founded by Marek Chołoniewski. Koczur was the youngest participant of the Grzegorz Fitelberg International Competition for Conductors (2012).

1st-prize winner in the 6th Nationwide Witold Lutosławski Competition for Young Conductors in Białystok (2016) and recipient of the Little Sceptre Award of the Polish Culture Foundation, Koczur also received (with Archetti) the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage Award in the 32nd Bydgoszcz Musical Impressions (2009), the 3rd prize and a honourable mention in the category of string orchestras in the 4th Summa Cum Laude International Youth Music Festival in Vienna, as well as the 1st prize for string and symphony orchestras in the competition of the European Music Festival for Young People in Neerpelt. He has also won numerous scholarships from, among others, the Minister of Science and Higher Education, the vice-chancellor of Cracow’s Academy of Music, the Professor Jerzy Katlewicz Scholarship (2009) and one from the Małopolska Scholarship Foundation Sapere Auso (2012).
