Alina Mleczko

The first woman to have graduated from the saxophone class at the Fryderyk Chopin Academy (now University) of Music in Warsaw (in the class of David Pituch and Krzysztof Herder). As a soloist she debuted at Warsaw Philharmonic in 1995.

She has recorded a number of solo albums as well as orchestral, ethnic, jazz, and improvised music. Mleczko has appeared under such conductors as Jacek Kaspszyk, Volker Schmidt-Gertenbach, José Maria Florêncio, Marcin Nałęcz-Niesiołowski, Krzysztof Słowiński, Anna Duczmal-Mróz, Paweł Kotla, and Michał Dworzyński, performing works by Glazunov, Ibert, Villa-Lobos, Debussy, Balakauskas, Szymański, Mykietyn, Pstrokońska-Nawratil, Sielicki, and others.

She plays concerts and recitals in Europe and the United States. She has given world premiere performances and made premiere recordings of numerous works, including music for radio plays broadcast by the Polish Radio Theatre, film soundtracks, and pieces for TVP Kultura Polish state television channel. She is also a highly regarded educator; in 2011 she obtained the title of Doctor of Musical Arts.
