JAKUB OLEJNIK

Double-bass and bass-guitar player, moving freely between the worlds of classical, jazz, and electronic music. Olejnik teaches classes at the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław as well as conducting numerous music courses and workshops. He is also the founder and artistic director of Bass&Beat Festival, focussing on bass and beat as the foundations of contemporary music as well as promotion of young artists and new means of expression. His collaborations include projects with Wrocław’s Capitol Music Theatre, Polski Theatre, and the National Forum of Music. Since 2022 he has been the president of the International Jazz-on-the-Odra Foundation. Olejnik has worked with such foreign stars as Rory Stuart, Karen Carroll, Rufus Reid, Carlos Piñana, Dante Luciani, Achille Succi, Bjørn Charles Dreyer, Anne Paceo, and Nicolas Simion, as well as Polish artists: Agata Zubel, Piotr Wojtasik, Krzysztof Kiljański, Piotr Baron, Grzegorz Nagórski, Henryk Miśkiewicz, Kuba Stankiewicz, and L.U.C. He is a co-author of the #PaderewskyOrchestra international artistic project concept, combining visual arts and music across a wide palette of styles and techniques. The project has been presented since 2018 in Poland and France. The musician has appeared at such major jazz festivals as Jazz on the Odra, Warsaw Summer Jazz Days, Era Jazzu, Jazzycolors, the ‘Jazz Bez’ International Festival of Contemporary Improvisational Music, JazzFest Brno, RCK Pro Jazz Festiwal
