Monika Kaźmierczak

She graduated in Music Theory and Choral Conducting (MA) as well as Church Music (BA) from the Academy of Music in Gdańsk. She also completed the Netherlands Carillon School in Amersfoort. She has held scholarships from the City of Gdańsk and the Dutch government (Huygens Scholarship Programme).
She began learning to play the carillon in 2000 during courses with Gert Oldenbeuving organised by the Historical Museum of the City of Gdańsk.
In 2005, she participated in master classes taught in Belgium by Geert D’hollander. She has played the Gdańsk carillons since 2001, and since 2018 she has formally served as the city’s carillonneur. She is the winner of international carillon competitions in Almelo (2003, 1st prize), Venlo (2004, 2nd prize), Zwolle (2013, 3rd prize), as well as a finalist of the competition in Mechelen (2008).
She maintains a busy concert schedule in Poland and other countries, such as Lithuania, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, the United States, and Ireland. In 2011–2015 she was the president of the Polish Carillon Society, and in 2006–2017 the head of the Choir of Gdańsk Burghers. She has organised concerts, including several editions of the Musical Day of Gdańsk, Summer Carillon Concerts, and the Gdańsk Carillon Festival.
In 2012, she obtained a doctorate in carillon performance from the Instrumental Department of the Academy of Music in Gdańsk, where she currently works as a lecturer.
