Clare Hammond

The pianist completed a BA at Cambridge University, where she obtained a double first in music, and undertook postgraduate study with Ronan O’Hora at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. In 2012 she obtained her DMA degree, and in 2016 – the Young Artist Award of the Royal Philharmonic Society in London.

In recent seasons, Clare has performed, among others, music by Panufnik with the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra under Jacek Kaspszyk, by Roxburgh with the BBC Symphony Orchestra under Michael Seal, and Connesson with the Philharmonia (cond. Jamie Phillips). In 2019 she gave the premiere of Uncoiling The River by Kenneth Hesketh with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales (cond. Martyn Brabbins) and released the Complete Keyboard Works of Mysliveček with the Swedish Chamber Orchestra under Nicholas McGegan for BIS Records.
After her most recent disc for BIS, of music by Kenneth Hesketh, Clare was praised by the Observer as a “star interpreter of contemporary music.”

Her previous release, Etude, received enthusiastic critical acclaim for its “unfaltering bravura and conviction” (Gramophone). Her discography includes world premiere recordings of over twenty works.
