Igor Herbut

A vocalist, songwriter, composer, leader of Lemon band. He was born in Przemków (Lower Silesia) into a family of Lemko ethnic descent which cultivates its Lemko traditions.
Herbut graduated from the Faculty of Arts of the University of Zielona Góra, majoring in Jazz and Popular Music. In 2011 he took part (with Adam Horoszczak) in the talent show Must Be the Music. Tylko muzyka. His freshly founded band Lemon won the contest.
Four of the band’s releases became gold and platinum discs: Lemon, Scarlett, Winter Étude, and the most alternative Tu [Here], hailed as one of the most interesting albums of 2017. In 2020 Herbut released his solo project Chrust [Brushwood], which has garnered excellent reviews and won public acclaim. Since 2020 Herbut has presented his own series of broadcasts, Igor Herbut’s Soundtrack, on RMF Classic radio.
Solo and with his band, Herbut has collaborated with such musicians as Kayah, Kasia Nosowska, Adam Sztaba, Jan Borysewicz, Grzegorz Markowski, Hania Rani, Sorry Boys, and other Polish artists, as well as the Georgian Rustavi Ensemble.
In Igor Herbut’s compositions we can hear distinct echoes of Lemko music, in the form of intonations, harmonies, and a strongly emotional manner of singing. His harsh, gravelly voice and expressive interpretations have attracted the attention of both audiences and critics. During the 2014 National Festival of Polish Song in Opole, Igor Herbut was voted Super-Artist of the Year in the Superjedynki television music poll.
