TAMARA KURKIEWICZ
Percussionist, graduate of Warsaw’s Chopin University of Music (class of Henryk Mikołajczyk and Miłosz Pękala). She is now continuing her studies with Marta Klimasara and Klaus Dreher at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Stuttgart. In 2018 she won the grand prix of the 12th Young Performers’ 20th- and 21st-Century Music Competition in Radziejowice. She also earned prizes in the 10th International ‘Italy Percussion Competition’ in Fermo, the 2nd Nationwide Percussion Competition in Poznań, and the 13th International Vibraphone Competition in Opole.
In 2020 she was invited to take part in the TROMP International Percussion Competition in Eindhoven. Kurkiewicz has participated in the Klangspuren Schwaz Internationale Ensemble Modern Akademie and the Komponistenakademie für zeitgenössische Musik in Graz, where she worked with such artists as Christian Dierstein, Rainer Römer, Agata Zubel, Mark Andre, Michael Maierhof, and Simon Løffler. As a chamber musician she has performed with Chain Ensemble (in a cycle of concerts titled ‘New Music Scene at the Nowy Theatre’). She has also appeared in concert at the ‘Warsaw Autumn’, Witold Lutosławski ‘Chain’ Festival, ‘CODES’ Festival of Traditional and Avant-garde Music, and Klangspuren Schwaz.
