MAREK NOSAL
Guitarist and educator, prize winner in national and international guitar competitions. He graduated with honours from Alina Gruszka’s guitar class at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice. He has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician in Poland and abroad, performing, among others, with the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra (NOSPR) in Katowice, the Silesian Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, and the symphony orchestras of the Lublin, Częstochowa, and Olsztyn (Warmia and Mazury) Philharmonics. He has given world premiere performances of works by such contemporary composers as Edward Bogusławski, Aleksander Lasoń, Odysseas Konstantinopoulos, and Aleksander Nowak. He has recorded for the radio and television, including first recordings of compositions by Roman Haubenstock- Ramati, Jan Edmund Jurkowski, Andrzej Krzanowski, Witold Szalonek, and Piotr Moss. The year 2018 saw the release of his album In modo polonico, featuring music by Alexander Tansman, Jan Nepomucen Bobrowicz, and Stanisław Mroński. Nosal is also a recipient of the Decoration of Honour ‘Meritorious for Polish Culture’, awarded by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage. Nosal is a lecturer on the faculty of his alma mater. In 2022 he was granted the title of Professor of Art. He also teaches at the Mieczysław Karłowicz State First- and Second-Level Music Schools in Katowice. Since 2015 Nosal has been the artistic director of the ‘Silesian Guitar Autumn” International Festival and the Jan Edmund Jurkowski International Guitar Competition in Tychy.
