MAKSYMILIAN LIPIEŃ

Oboist in the NOSPR Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice (principal oboe since 2009). A graduate of Kraków’s Academy of Music, he also developed his skills playing in the Polish-German Youth Philharmonic Orchestra and the Internationale Bachakademie Stuttgart under Helmuth Rilling. He has won prizes in the 3rd Józef Ciepłucha International Academic Competition for Oboists and Bassoonists in Łódź, the Nationwide Wind Instruments Competition in Olsztyn, the Macroregional Woodwind Auditions in Lublin, and the Nationwide Young Musicians’ Competition in Szczecinek.

He has received scholarships from the Jolanta Kwaśniewska Young Talents Support Fund and the Minister of Culture and Art. Lipień has played with such orchestras as the Sinfonietta Cracovia, the Sinfonia Varsovia, AUKSO Chamber Orchestra of the City of Tychy, the Beethoven Academy Orchestra, and the Polish Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra Sopot. In 2004–2005 he was the principal oboist of the Lebanese National Symphony Orchestra in Beirut. He has recorded music for Polish Radio as well as such record labels as Sony Classical, Accentus Music, and DUX. He has toured extensively at home and abroad in Germany, Switzerland, Great Britain, Sweden, Norway, and France. Apart from his concert schedule, he is an academic teacher at the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków (Instrumental Faculty). He also conducts courses and workshops.
