Bartłomiej Wąsik

A versatile pianist, composer and arranger, working in the fields of both classical and popular music. Prize-winner of numerous competitions at home and abroad, he has performed on four continents in such venues as New York’s Carnegie Hall, Chicago Symphony Hall, Washington’s Kennedy Center, Osaka’s Izumi Hall, and the Philharmonie Berlin. He is a member of Lutosławski Piano Duo and Kwadrofonik. With the former, he received the Coryphaeus of Polish Music award as Personality of the Year, while with Kwadrofonik he won Polityka’s Passport, New Tradition Folk Festival’s Grand Prix and Storm of Applause, as well as Folk Record of the Year (twice). Wąsik has also collaborated with such artists as Stanisława Celińska, Bartosz Konopka, Jan Komasa, Artur Rojek, Adam Strug, Katarzyna Nosowska, Ralph Kaminski, Dorota Miśkiewicz, Mela Koteluk, the Royal String Quartet, VRC Choir, and the Old Theatre in Lublin.

Wąsik’s recital cycle ‘Pianokrąg’ (‘The Piano Circle’), inaugurated at Warsaw’s Królikarnia in 2020, presents music by composers working in the borderland between classical and alternative music, as well as his own works. At present he also runs an eponymous series of broadcasts on Polish Radio Channel Three. Previously he was the host of ‘Familiar? Listen Again!’ on PR Channel Two. 2022 saw the release of his solo album Daydreamer, comprising arrangements of songs by Radiohead.
