Jarosław Bester
Polish accordionist and composer, founder and leader of Bester Quartet; graduate of Cracow’s Academy of Music; prize-winner in numerous nation- wide and international accordion competitions. His individual style, characterised by a broad colouristic palette, technical freedom and expressive quality, results from a combination of many musical styles with a classical education and improvisation.
Bester’s international renown has led to numerous invitations to play in prestigious venues and clubs, as well as close collaboration with John Zorn’s NY label Tzadik Records. Bester has toured in the United States, United Kingdom, Taiwan, Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, France, Russia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Hungary, Belgium, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Finland, Italy, Estonia, Canada, Spain, Moldova, Bulgaria, Serbia, Slovakia, Belarus, Turkey, and Brazil. He has recorded for record labels, radio and television in the US, Germany, Sweden, France, Finland, and Poland.
The accordionist collaborates with outstanding artists representing various musical worlds, from classical to jazz, avant-garde, and ethnic music. He has performed with John Zorn, Tomasz Stańko, John McLean, Don Byron, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Frank London, Ernie Adams, Vadim Brodski, Jorgos Skolias, Vitold Rek, Bronisław Duży, and Dorota Miśkiewicz, as well as under the baton of Marek Moś and Jerzy Maksymiuk. He has also contributed to solo albums by Grażyna Auguścik.
