Urszula Kryger
Mezzo-soprano and educator, she graduated in piano and singing from the Grażyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz University of Music in Łódź. Winner of top prizes in international music competitions, including the 1st International Stanisław Moniuszko Vocal Competition in Warsaw (1992), the 6th International Johannes Brahms Competition in Hamburg (1994), and the 43rd ARD International Music Competition in Munich (1994). She has appeared, among others, at Milan’s Teatro alla Scala and the Semperoper Dresden. Kryger is also a dedicated chamber music performer, combining perfection and naturalness in her song interpretations. Her accompanists have included such pianists as Hartmut Höll, Charles Spencer, Melvyn Tan, Pascal Rogé, and Katarzyna Jankowska. She focuses on Polish art songs by Chopin, Moniuszko, Karłowicz, Żeleński, and Lutosławski. She has recorded for many Polish, Germany, Swiss, and French radio broadcasters as well as record labels such as Hyperion, Decca, Naxos, CPO, Channel Classics, and Anaklasis. Her albums have won multiple Fryderyk Awards. The artist is a lecturer at her alma mater in Łódź. She also conducts numerous masterclasses at home and abroad.
