AUKSO - CHAMBER ORCHESTRA OF THE CITY OF TYCHY
Founded by a group of graduates from the Academy of Music in Katowice and by Marek Moś, the Orchestra performs works from the classics to contemporary, with particular emphasis on Polish music.
They have recorded numerous albums of compositions by Grażyna Bacewicz, Henryk Mikołaj Górecki, Witold Lutosławski, and others.
The Orchestra derives special inspiration from crossover projects, combining classical repertoire with jazz, alternative music, and rock. AUKSO has performed, among others, with Leszek Możdżer, Tomasz Stańko, Urszula Dudziak, and Michał Urbaniak. Their joint projects with Aphex Twin and Jonny Greenwood earned them the Coryphaeus of Polish Music Award for Event of the Year 2011. AUKSO has also won the Fryderyk Award of the Polish Phonographic Society for their Chopin CD recorded with Janusz Olejniczak and for 'ahat-ilī – Sister of Gods' and 'Siren. Melodrama aeterna' by Aleksander Nowak.
Since 2000, the Orchestra has hosted the AUKSO Summer Philharmonic, which comprises master classes, open rehearsals, as well as concerts
attracting young musicians and music lovers from all over the world.
Since 2018 AUKSO has operated under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage as the orchestra’s co-organiser. This has led, among
others, to the launch of a new festival – Auksodrone
